Core Trade Issues
Through this theme, the Geneva Trade Platform works to support policymaking around what are generally considered ‘traditional’ trade issues. This includes working through all four of our pillars to support the work of intergovernmental negotiators at the World Trade Organization, at the regional level and in bilateral talks. It extends to collaborating and supporting deliberations in other bodies such as at the UN, within the OECD and at the World Bank. Finally, it encompasses supporting government officials, activists, and the private sector in understanding the impact of traditional trade issues on their constituents and interests, and elevating their voices
Traditional Trade issues include but aren’t limited to:
  • Goods and services
  • Investment and Government procurement
  • The functioning of international trade dispute settlement, including the WTO Appellate Body
  • The governance and functioning of the World Trade Organization
  • The impact of liberalization locally, regionally and globally
